Who We Are
This website is the official online home for The War of the Shards, The Shattering of Veyra, and related updates from L. G. Cox / Any Fantasy World.
This website is operated by Louis Cox, writing as L. G. Cox, under the name Any Fantasy World.
For privacy questions, mailing-list requests or requests concerning your personal information, contact louis@anyfantasyworld.com.
Information We Collect
When you join the mailing list, we collect the email address you provide. We may also record where the signup came from, such as the homepage or Join the List page.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects information about how the website is used. This may include pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, traffic source and interactions such as clicks on Amazon links.
Amazon-link tracking records that a link was followed. It does not tell us whether a purchase was completed.
Your analytics choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under the name "afw_analytics_consent".
How We Use Your Information
We use your email address to send updates about The War of the Shards, including book news, release information, lore, maps, artwork, merchandise and related announcements.
Analytics information helps us understand which pages are useful, how visitors discover the website and when visitors follow a book-ordering link to Amazon.
We do not sell your personal information.
Our Lawful Basis
We rely on your consent to send mailing-list updates and to activate Google Analytics.
The browser storage used to remember your analytics choice is necessary to operate the website’s cookie-consent settings.
You can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing that took place before withdrawal.
Analytics, Cookies and Local Storage
Google Analytics 4 does not load unless you select Accept analytics.
After acceptance, Google Analytics may create first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. These cookies distinguish visitors and maintain session information and normally have a maximum lifetime of two years.
If you reject analytics, Google Analytics will not load and rejecting will not affect the operation of the website or your ability to follow an Amazon ordering link.
Vercel Web Analytics is also used to provide limited, aggregated and cookie-free website statistics.
You can review or change your decision at any time by selecting Cookie settings on the website.
How Information Is Stored and Retained
Newsletter signups are stored securely using Supabase, the database service connected to this website. Access is restricted and used only for the purposes described in this policy.
Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is retained in accordance with the Any Fantasy World GA4 retention setting and for no longer than 14 months. Aggregated reporting may remain available for longer.
Your cookie-consent choice remains in your browser until you change it, clear your browser data or use a different browser or device.
Third-Party Services
Supabase provides database services, Google provides Google Analytics 4, and Vercel provides website hosting and cookie-free Web Analytics.
These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom in accordance with their contractual and legal safeguards.
When you follow a link to Amazon, you leave this website. Amazon’s own privacy and cookie policies then apply.
Unsubscribing and Withdrawing Consent
You can unsubscribe from email updates or ask for your email address to be removed at any time by contacting louis@anyfantasyworld.com.
You can withdraw analytics consent by selecting Cookie settings and then Reject analytics.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when website features, service providers or information-processing activities change.
The latest version and its update date will always appear on this page.
